Has anyone had the problem when they create a level with water, but as soon as lara jumps in she goes into a static pose and moves around in a generally un-swimmy type manner?I have had this a couple of times, and to make things more interesting to mulder and scully, when she reaches the surface she stands atop it and the only way to move her is to type DOZY and fly her outta there!!! Yep, I've seen this. It happens with the Tomb Of Seth WAD (and possibly others.) When I left my level exactly as it was, but switched to another WAD, the problem was solved. Of course, this doesn't really help you if you've already done a lot of work on your level and can't switch to another WAD without making major changes. A good rule of thumb is to try to include water only in WADs that come from levels which originally had water (did that make any kind of sense?) What I'm trying to say is that the Tomb Of Seth did not include water, so its WAD does not support swimming. The coastal ruins, on the other hand, did include water, and so you should have no problems making Lara swim with that WAD. IP: Logged |

Thanks Tro, looked into this problem and tested my level with all the differant wads and it looks like that the Tomb of seth wad is the only one with this problem. Think I may try make my own "Limitations" list.IP: Logged |

I also think there is a structure here. It's not a coincidental failure of a particular wad if Lara can't climb or swim. It looks like she can only do the things she did in the original level.

Rob will correct me if I'm wrong (I hope) but the number of things taht can be loaded in a WAD is limited. So if there was no water in the original level, there is no need of a "swimming" animation. Likewise for climbing and monkey-swinging.IP: Logged |

I saw this earlier on and think it may be on loading into the converter .. have noticed it loading , gets to build finish and flashes straight into the build sequence again , always ok 2nd time and happens when I change the water animation (on/off) .???IP: Logged |

If you download the revised WADs, Lara won't have a swimming problem in the Tomb of Seth.IP: Logged |

Hello i not sure this problem is caused by the wads,Let me explain. The very first level i tried to build I used the tut1.wad,and had the same problem, however when i reloaded the original .prj and played tut1 Lara swam fine.So i tested it by making a very simple level using tut1 wad,and recreating my water rooms and again it worked fine.So as far as I can tell it seems to be a problem that developes in the creation of the level its self.Dont get me wrong there very well could be somthing screwed up with the wads, just my own personal observations.IP: Logged |
